Adu Jahmal
Deeply rooted in the Chicago Bronzville neighborhood Adu
Jahmal represent the musical expression of his early environment. From his uncle George Brown (Captain Dyetts
Famous Jazz Band Du Sable High School) local neighbors like Oscar Brown Jr. and
living just a couple of blocks from the world famous Checkerboard and Teresa Lounge......Adu
express the soulful feeling that comes from hearing Lou Rawls, Curtis Mayfield,
Chaka Khan, Eddie Harris, Ron Hardy, Lil Milton, Willie Dixon, Billie Branch, Fred
Anderson, Von Freeman and listening to Herb Kent spin those duties on the
radio. Rooted deep into soul, jazz,
house and blues...Adu forges his signature on rocknroll, metal, folk and
bluegrass. Just ask Grand Ole Opry Mandolin
Player Jessie Mc Reynolds or the soulful Zach Deputy, Logic, Christopher Hawley,
Steve Taylor and the many bands Adu has blessed.
Known as one of Motown’s last Funk brothers, Adu Has
performed with Ray Parker, Leon Ware, The Temptations and Stevie Wonder. Adu Credits his Los Angeles success to
Norwood Fisher (Fishbone) “whom I learned endurance from and Christopher Hawley
who taught me how to play RocknRoll”.
Others Adu Have performed with includes Roy Hargrove,
Maurice Brown, Malachi, Thompson, Stephanie Crawford, George Clinton, Macy Gray
and a host of others.
Currently Adu Jahmal is a member of Ghettosong Bird Band.
